Hello, 你好, I’m your tour guide Zoey.
Zoey’s story
I’m a chinese medicine food therapist, chef, and a traveller who have been to almost 40 countries in the world. I was born and raised in Shanghai, China. When I was 16, I moved to the United States alone and later started a career in wellness. I have opened restaurants, written a cookbook, taught Chinese medicine nutrition classes, and guided many tours in Manhatthan’s Chinatown.
This year, I turned 28 and I felt an irresistable urge to stay in my country, the beautiful China, to be closer to my family who haven’t seen me for the past years dued to COVID, and to share the Chinese incredible culture and my knowledge in wellness with you.
The picture above is me (I now have black hair!) in my studio by Charissa Fay; the one to the right is me in Manhattan’s Chinatown shot by Eager Tourist and David Lombroso.
Travel with a friend.
Big tourist groups and rigid guided tours are my worst nightmare. I love travelling alone and take the time to explore a new culture. Don’t take me to souvenir shopping or drop me off an attraction and tell me to come to the bus in 30 minutes, please!
However, out of the 40 countries I’ve been to, I realize that China is a very challenging place to travel without a local to guide you. I’ve listed some obstacles foreiners have to face when they are in China. Even if you have figured everything out, you might not know the best places to stay, to eat, and to receive wellness treatments.
I want to be your local friend in China. I’m so excited to take you to the best places that most tourist companies won’t offer. I’m also looking forward to teaching you everything I know about food, wellness, and Chinese medicine during our time together! Hope to see you soon!
